Answer by Gina Henry:
This physician is at war with the expanded role of Nursing that is supported by the current administration in this country. That is how it seems to me. Instead of being a collaborative team, this MD could not handle that a RN made a nursing diagnosis and set a nursing goal for the patient regarding the patients expressed knowledge deficit as evidenced by the patients expressed lack of understanding of the procedures and/or transplant evaluation and long term follow up and aftercare status post liver transplant. The nursing order/diagnosis/plan of care perfectly aligned with the PATIENTS expressed desires and goals. This is a no brainer, sadly Ms. Trujillo was the brunt of this MD's anger with the changes in medical practice. This MD appears to not be aligned or in agreement with the IOM/Robert Wood Johnson Foundations, The HHS, and the current Presidential administrations, recommendations of expanded nursing roles to BETTER CARE for THE PATIENT.
